Our story
In 2017, Sahul Exploration compiled an initial parcel of exploration licenses over a prospective portion of the McPhee Dome. There had previously been a significant amount of exploration conducted in the area by Alcoa of Australia, AMAX Australia, Antelope Exploration, Australian Ores and Minerals , BHP, Cazaly Resources, Clackline Refractories Limited, Cove Resources, CRA Exploration, Giralia Resources, Graynic Metals, Pancontinental Resources, Placer Prospecting, RGC Exploration and Sabminco NL. However, the intrusion-related gold and base metal potential had not been investigated or considered.
With a new exploration concept in mind, we decided on an old school approach to evaluating the ground which included complete and full interrogation of existing historical data and a “boots on the ground” approach to determining and following up on geochemical and drilling-related anomalies. Since 2017, 30 square kilometres have been sampled over 10 grids, producing more than 9,700 soil samples and 2,000 rock chip samples. By late 2024, we completed 147 holes including 12,797 meters of RC drilling and 743 meters of diamond drilling to test surface geochemical anomalies.
Surface sampling and drill testing to date has confirmed a zone measuring 5km x 2km that comprises a consistent and distinct surface gold – copper – Lead – Zinc geochemical anomaly that we have named the Bonney Downs Project. Drilling at the Bonney Downs Project has confirmed that the surface geochemical anomaly represents significant gold and base metals mineralisation.
